National Ploughing Championships
On Thursday the 22nd of September I attended the National Ploughing Championships with two of my friends and I had booked the train ticket the night before from Heuston to Tullamore. As we boarded the train we noticed the lads sitting next to us were hardcore culchies. They had cracked open the cans at the ridiculous hour of 10am. I arrived in my fully white converse not knowing the horrors that had awaited me. We bought our tickets and entered the festival and to my horrow I saw massive puddles of mud and rain. Within a few moments my converse were destroyed. Everyone else that attended was smart enough to wear a pair of wellies.
As we walked up and down the aisles looking at the new John Deer machinery we spotted Aldi, we entered hoping to find many free samples of food. To our luck they were giving out hundreds of samples from yogurts to black pudding and coffee. For the next few hours we walked around looking in stalls and looking at all the latest farming machinery. We soon got tired and decided to call it a day. We waited for the shuttle bus back to the train and hopped on the first train that passes back to our home county of Dublin.
This was a great experience as I have never attended the National Ploughing Championships before. I also learned that. Need to bring wellies next year.
