This year on the 13th of September I received my junior certificate results. As I went into school that morning with my arms filled with bags for the camping trip, I saw all my friends eagerly sitting in the halla nua waiting to be called up the the LRC. I soon joined them and we all had mixed feelings about getting our results. Some were nervous and some were excited. As I received my junior certificate results a wave of relief was bestowed upon me as I opened my results and saw that i had exceeded my expectations and I knew my parents would be proud.
Before I knew it I was in lough Dan and I had began setting up my tent with my friends and shortly after that I had walked up the barn to eat my first of many pots of Koka noodles. The teachers gave us a few hours to settle in and take in the results we had just received. They soon had us on our first of two hikes. It was only 6km but it was in the lashing rain and we were all very tired none the less we had a great time. Also this was the first time we had come together and properly bonded as a year group.
On day 2 we embarked on our 22km hike. As a joke my two friends and I linked arms for the start of the hike, for some unknown reason it became a challenge to continue to link arms for the whole 22km. We completed it with great struggle but in the end was worth it as we had accomplished something many others may not be able to. When we got back we went for a swim in the freezing cold lake, the majority of the year got in and stayed in for about 10 minutes. This helped us bond as we played games and messed around in the water.
To conclude the camping trip was a major success in that it brought our year closer together and we began to accept people that we haven't done before in the past. Despite the cold weather and the rain I thoroughly enjoyed the camping trip and would do it all again if I could.
